"Time Stands Still" - features

Journal Entry: Tue Nov 17, 2009, 10:36 AM

Dozens of entries, from photography to manipulation, literature and graphic art, were submitted to *golddfische’s “Time Stands Still” contest. I entered as well and suggested to sponsor a journal feature when I saw all of the other beautiful pieces. Please take a minute of your time and look at the beautiful works of the winners and my personal runners-up :)
So, without any further ado, the winners are:

My name is Lydia, I'm 22 and I'm from Austria. This is my photography account, because while I'm interested in all sorts of arts I've decided to focus on photography in particular. However, you can also find me and my drawings, paintings etc. on ~syccas or, if you're a graphic artist or photomanipulator, on my stock-account ~syccas-stock

I'm still a beginner, I'd say. I've started with photography mainly when I needed some poses for my drawings and asked a friend to model for me. As you may be able to guess, that's when I came up with the stock-account and from there it wasn't that big of a step to "artsy" photography ;)
So far I mainly used a Panasonic DMC-FZ50, a so-called bridge-cam, and I'm not exactly a tech-geek. I know my camera and I know which buttons to press, wheels to turn to get the settings I want but in my opinion there are other, more important things that decide whether you are able to take a good photo.
However, in my book when you reach the point where you actually feel your camera is at its limits you *earn* the right to take it to the next level, technically speaking. So I've lately purchased a Canon Eos 40d, entering the realms of DSLR photography. We'll see where the journey takes me.

I am on deviantart to improve. Mainly. I like to give and receive critique. I think one of the most important things for any photographer is to know how their photos affect people, so I always try to communicate my thoughts and emotions when viewing other people's art.
I'll try to answer every comment, fav and watch with a good look at your gallery - giving back comments, favs and if I'm blown away even watches. I'm not a fan of copy & paste "thank you" messages, so if you really are grateful and have some time left please take a look at my works and do as you deem fit. I promise I'll do the same :)
